Megan Ackley

Megan is originally from Wauwatosa, WI, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. During her senior year, she interned with Raptor Education Group, Inc. (REGI), where she developed a passion for birds and environmental education. Afterward, Megan continued to volunteer with REGI and decided to pursue a teaching license.

While teaching in Milwaukee and later Middleton, and starting a family with her husband, Darren, she took a five-year hiatus from volunteering at REGI. When the opportunity arose to move back to Central Wisconsin, the family eagerly made the transition.

Megan has been teaching special education at DC Everest Senior High for the past 16 years. Throughout this time, despite the demands of raising a young family, she tried to remain active with REGI, organizing the Wings Over Wausau event (for 4 years), assisting with bird rescues and transports, and contributing to educational efforts.

Her children, Ella and Manning—now both in college—grew up immersed in the world of REGI and have developed a deep appreciation for wildlife. Megan currently cares for education birds and continues to share her love of wildlife and environmental stewardship with the Weston and Wausau communities.

She considers her role as a board member of REGI an honor and is dedicated to supporting the organization's mission.
