Help Offset Our Patient Costs
Without question, our largest costs are incurred with the treatment of our patients. Every one of them has a story and a kind human behind them and we at REGI are dedicated to providing them with the very best care to help them back to the wild. Now, for the first time, you can directly fund their care. Simply click on the patient(s) you wish to fund and the cost of their care will be added to your cart. When you're ready, simply head to the checkout to complete your donation.
Lead Poisoning -
Lead in our environment is a deadly serious issue. Lead fragments left by hunters in unrecovered kills, gut piles and even lead fishing tackle can all find their way into the digestive system of unsuspecting raptors such as eagles. Left untreated the poison will attack neurological and digestive systems leading to a slow and painfl death. Luckily, REGI is able to help those that find their way into our care, but the cost is not cheap. A $1,000 donation will help to pay for a portion of the housing and medical care required for these very special patients.
Vehicle Collisions -
One of the most common raptor injuries admitted to our clinic result from vehicle collisions caused by raptors dining on roadside carrion. On average, these injuries take several months of housing, care and rehabilitation. Your $200 donation will help provide that care for one of our many patients.
Lead/Fishing Line -
Here in Northern Wisconsin, the Common Loon is also a common patient unfortunately. Like eagles, they are often victims of lead poisoning (lead sinkers) and/or complications resulting from discarded fishing line by anglers. Please consider non-lead alternatives and ALWAYS recover broken or discarded line to help prevent these types of injuries. A $500 donation will help care for just one Common Loon patient with this type of injury. Thank you.
Pet attacks -
Another very common, and preventable, injury to smaller patients results from pet attacks. Please keep your cats indoors especially during nesting season. If you'd like to help one of our many patients on the road to recovery, a $30 donation helps to cover the 2 months of housing and medical care required to treat each of these injuries. Thank you.
