American Bald Eagle Released at Highground - April 3, 2004
This mature, 10 lb. American Bald eagle took advantage of high and powerful winds blowing from the point of the plaza on Saturday as he found himself returning to the air after spending several months recuperating from poisoning. Because of his age and maturity, Marge Gibson, the executive director of the Antigo Raptor Center, thought the bird belonged to this area and would try to return to his mate. Marge also thought The Highground would be a good location for future releases.
The Antigo Raptor Education Group, Inc. (REGI), like The Highground, relies on donations to provide for the many birds that are treated at the center. The Center takes care of eagles, hawks, owls, swans, and many other birds. Donations are tax-deductible and may be sent to REGI, PO Box 481, Antigo, WI 54409.
