NEILLSVILLE - A bald eagle found poisoned in November will be released Saturday at the Highground Veterans Memorial.
The eagle will be released at 11 a.m. by Marge Gibson, executive director of the Antigo-based Raptor Education Group.
The sick eagle was found on the opening day of deer hunting season by a resident who then notified Department of Natural Resources wardens. The wardens took the eagle to Wausau, where they turned the bird over to Gibson.
Staff members at the center gave the eagle fluids and medication and nursed it back to health. The eagle is one of 15 from Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula that are being cared for at the center.
